Can we truly define love？

I suppose this is a topic I should discuss with all of you because I've noticed that our parents, schools, and even society have failed to define or teach us what "love" is.

As a Divorce Lawyer for more than a decade, what I’ve heard the most from my clients is: “There is no love anymore between both of us. We have tried our best to save this marriage.”

When I looked around, I noticed that individuals of all ages, young and old, had perverted the genuine meaning of "love." I discovered that many children choose to eat vegetables and even play chess not because they appreciate the foods or the pastime, but rather to gain their parents' attention and "love”.

I even noticed that many youngsters would give a lot of promises that they will love each other till death do them apart, but many of them couldn’t keep their promises in the end of the day.

My friend's toddler even informed me that he loves his puppy because his kindergarten teacher taught him that we should love animals. “Blood is thicker than water,” our parents always say, and we must love our siblings.

Even if I had done well enough to love my schools and friends during my school days, I learnt to "love" my career, my job, and my coworkers when I started working in the legal field.

From here, i would really like to emphasize that we had been taught to like our parents, animals, friends, siblings and which includes our surroundings from school & our own circle of relatives members.

However, none of them used to educate us how to “love ourselves”. That is why a lot of us provide our limitless love closer to the humans surrounded us and disregarded our self love from time to time. In an extended run , in the course of our life , we make ourselves stay in worry and insecure.

I’ve seen many teenagers using drugs and other self-destructive activities just to get the attention and approval of their friends' gang. Many of my friends choose to study law as a way of realizing their parents' dream rather than their own. I choose to stay away from my family to buy my first home just because I fear criticism from others. Like this action, it has got me through many difficulties and has had a negative impact on my physical health during long hours.

We force ourselves to work on other people’s dreams by depriving our sleep time and restrict our freedom for years. We trap ourselves in endless fear and insecurity and keep pushing ourselves to the max. Why we have to keep self torturing ourselves?

We are the silent killer to ourselves. Our fear and insecurity caused us depression, unhappiness, upset, and dissatisfaction in our achievements. There is nobody for us to blame since we are the ones who are willingly to pursue other people’s dreams and live in their fantasy world. We are the ones that chose to love others more than ourselves. 

All of us have been victimised by our education. We had forgotten and neglected to learn more about ourselves and we forget about what is “SELF LOVE”!.

How do you work your way up in a company ?

Every 1st meet up to my client is the most precious moment to me as a Divorce Lawyer.

One of the causes leading to  Divorce regardless before or during this pandemic is either party is having stress in his/her business that would indirectly caused a breakdown in a marriage . This situation is worse while both parties are each's other business partner.

When I go in deep with them, I noticed majority of the young bosses failed to play well the  basic elements in a company i.e :-

1.Tax

Many young bosses merely like to blindly listen and follow without doing thorough research before they start up a business. Even if they did , they would follow everything they know without improving their knowledge from time to time .

Tax is the most crucial element in a company . Therefore, if you are not familiar to the range of threshold and range of payment of tax in Malaysia , then you may encounter more losses due to your laziness.Therefore, you have to up to date and know the differences well between corporate tax & personal income tax in Malaysia.

From the above picture and link, you may see there is a vast different in terms of percentage of tax if you are conducting your business by way of enterprise or Sdn. Bhd.

You shouldn’t merely focus on the costs in secretary fee and auditor fee of Sdn. Bhd.  when your company is more suitable to run under Sdn . Bhd.  according to the income of your company .

2.Account

There are too many young bosses rely on their external and internal accounts in all material times. Many of them do not concern about their monthly income & expenses and failed to review their expenses from time to time.

If you are not concerned about your money inside your pocket then do not expect anyone else to monitor and revise for you.

3.Research & Development

When I stress on this point, it doesn’t mean that you must have a team of people to keep inventing new products to cater the needs in the market .

It is one of the crucial elements for a company to  conduct the survey  in the market since the demand in the market can easily change by months or years.

Many people keep doing the same thing by using the same method for years without developing anything and they would feel stressed after they found out their services and products are outdated in the market . 

4.Black and white

Many young bosses only focus on the short term success. The thought of having to draft and revising an agreement is a waste of time and will let their businesses or collaborate partners to run away .

They always have an idea that if everything is  written in black and white then there is no trust for both parties to involve in a transaction.

However, you shouldn’t forget that you may face bigger difficulties and the relationship will turn even sour when there is any event of default or any unwanted incident happened from either party.

5.Marketing

Marketing is merely one of the elements in a company but all of us have given excessive focus to this element and indirectly bring more harm than good to a company .

Many SME bosses overspend the marketing budget every year to ensure that they are not far behind from their competitors .

Sad to say, many of them have omitted that the expenses for this element far out-weighs their income . Many of their marketing strategies doesn’t come with a good plan .

It is better to strike a balance among the 5 elements to let your company run itself better.

Before I end this post, I would like to share with you  that ,sometimes  a good life could bring more joys to a marriage.
